# Cashier sessions and shift reports

Open and close a cashier session, close it with the admin PIN, and read the session report: totals by payment method, discounts, expenses and orders.

1.  Choose “Start session”.

## Steps

1.  **Open a session.** Choose “Start session” from the side menu, or “Continue” on the “Select Cashier” screen after signing in. The timer shows how long the session has been open.
2.  **Sell.** Every order, payment and expense is recorded in the open session.
3.  **Close the session.** Choose “End session”. Closing requires the admin PIN.
4.  **Read the report.** It shows totals by payment method, discounts, expenses, the number of orders, and the session's start and end times. Choose “Print Session Details”.
5.  **Review past sessions.** In “Sales → Manage Sessions” filter by user and see each session's status (open or completed), duration, number of orders and total.

## Tip

If a cashier leaves a session open, the admin can end it from “Manage Sessions”. “Sales by Cashier” in the Dashboard compares your points of sale.
